You can do it
That´s so important I´ll say it again: You can do it. One of my core beliefs is that there is no magic in skills. Skill are just useful habits and all habits can be learned. So I believe that everyone has the potential to be, do or create whatever they can imagine provided they put in the effort to learn the correct habits.
I am here to show drummers of all ages and abilities how to use their own talents and creativity in order to be the best musicians they can be and I do this by, firstly: focusing on the 5 core areas of drumming: Grooves, Fills, Rudiments, Technique and Counting
taking time to establish a solid foundation in each one. Then we can begin the art of combining these elements in a musical way which is where the fun really starts!
From my lessons you will pick up key exercises, ideas and skills that will enable you to progress musically. But, more than that, you can also expect to benefit from my simple success system which, once acquired, will allow you to conquer the world. Seriously. Now thats good value for money!
The Success System
1 Goal Setting - Be clear and write down exactly what you want to achieve. There´s great power in words and this will allow you to...
2 Focus - Break down your goal into smaller pieces and work on it one bit at a time. With smaller pieces you will find it easier to take...
3 Action - Do something every day to move you towards your goal. That means practicing every day. It may seem like theres a lot to remember so have...
4 Patience - Take your time to learn new ideas so they can be fully absorbed by your mind. Above all, the key thing is...
5 Persistence - Stick at it no matter what. Success is the reward for being true to yourself no matter what anyone else thinks, says or does.
Keep in mind that there are no shortcuts. Success only follows hard work, dedication and persistence. However the good news is that success WILL ALWAYS follow hard work, dedication and persistence. Now, in these crazy times we live in, isn´t it comforting to have some certaintity?
The Challenges
The rules are simple. Every 3 months I set my students an exercise which they play along to a metronome, whoever can play it the fastest wins! There´s also recognition of the students who show the most improvement ie. those who have the biggest increase in their speed in the 3 month duration of the contest. All scores are in beats per minute (BPM).

A Bit About Me
I first started to learn drums in 1996 at Stage 2000 and made good progress using the excellent systems developed by my teachers Stuart Milne and Stef Pogorzelec. Although I have now made the switch from student to teacher I still devote myself to continued learning on musical, professional and personal level.
In 2004 I graduated from the University of Dundee with a degree in Psychology and since then I read an average of 6 books every month on music, teaching, psychology, physics, philosophy, history, the human mind, anatomy, business and also biographies of some of the most successful people in the world. During that time I have also gigged all over the country, played festivals, recorded sessions for the radio, attended numerous drum clinics, coordinated and ran music workshops and developed my teaching system.
Here´s a link where you can here me playing with my band Allodoxa.
Now is the time
Like I said, I believe in the power of words so I´ll leave you with a few of my favourites... Have you ever enjoyed being on a journey more than when you actually arrived at your destination? Well I think life is a little bit like that. Where ever it is that your headed don´t get too caught up thinking or worrying about the future. Relax. Point yourself in the right direction, take little steps along the way, have faith that you´ll get there and just enjoy your journey. Enjoy where you are right now. Now is the most important time we have for it is only through now that we ever get anywhere. In fact now, the present moment, is the only time we truly have so you might as well make it a good one!
Well fellow traveller, I like to think we´ve gotten to know each other a little through this page and if we ever meet I hope that we can both learn a bit more about music and life from each other. Until then: take care, be in the moment and have fun.
Best Wishes and thanks for reading... Sean.
